NCAA PS2: How to Construct an In-Game Schedule Generator

This is a complex one. It requires quite a bit of knowledge which I won't go into here, and assume you know some of the basics already of how to use specific programs, but I'll go over some basics and semi-advanced background. This is going to be a long post. First off, on the game disc, in the DATA folder, are a series of DAT files. DAT files are storage container files, much like a common zip file. They contain more files within them. For reference, DAT files are also known as TERF files. This is the official EA terminology for it, but they are typically named with the *.DAT file extension. Our good ol' friend @JDHalfrack created a DAT read/write tool in the mid 2000's that was originally designed with Madden PC games. It's called DAT File Replacer (DFR) and has up to 5 released versions now. Version 3 may be the most useful for most things as it seems to work the best for all-around usage. With the use of DFR, we can open DAT files, extract contents of it, and a...

Converting Dynasty Saves & Advanced League Restructuring -- and introducing my fantasy roster generator

As some of you are aware, I tinker with my league setup quite often in dynasty mode, and have been doing it for years now. More recently, I've gone quite a bit more extreme in my league setups and forgoing the traditional layouts of the NCAA 06 game, by adding 14-team conferences and other things, as mentioned in the previous post. In most cases, simply editing the TEAM database with the correct CGID and DGID and TTYP values will move teams around. Then you'd follow up with TSWP databased edits to swap teams around. This only works if you keep the same league structure. As a refresher or for those new to this: CGID = Conf ID DGID = Division ID (15 is no divisions) TTYP = Team Type (0=FBS, 1=FCS) CGID/DGID values can be round in the CONF and DIVI tables in dynasty save. But, let's say you want to add a new team from FCS or several of them. How about adding a create-a-team to the dynasty IN THE MIDDLE OF long dynasty? It's not as simple as making some tweaks to the existi...

NCAA PS2: Removing Conferences from FBS in a Dynasty

Removing Conferences from FBS in a Dynasty Among the plethora of new discoveries we've unlocked through hex editing, I did find out how to REMOVE conferences during dynasty play! It was actually rather stupidly easy. You basically just change League LGID to 1 in CONF for the conference you want to get rid of. Then change the teams in TEAM to the conference CGID/DGID you want to move them too. But here's the part that you have to do. You need to move a team, any team, to the old conference that you are removing from FBS. In this case, I just put a random FCS team or set of teams in there. So, basically the game used to hang or crash when I tried this in the past because I did not have any teams in the WAC (CGID: 14), but through dumb what if experimentation this week, I found out that all I had to do was move any team to the WAC, and it works! I actually ended up moving the MAC and WAC down to FCS, so I only have 9 conferences, and 1 independents right now in my League of 120 t...

The patch also allows users to play with default 2021 rosters in all game modes.

NCAA Football Series - PS3 to PS2 Roster Conversion Tool Updated!

I've been working on some major changes to the roster porting tool I created in Excel to port over NCAA Football 13/14 on PS3 over to any game in the PS2/PSP NCAA series. Apparently this can also be used for GameCube as well (with some additional steps)! Anyway, the latest update is version 0.70. It addresses the following changes: Capitalizations and Punctuations in First/Last name fixes Added more head/hair combinations (still randomly generated) Total re-balance of player attributes to closer match NCAA 2006  Accurately calculates player overall ratings Fixed and Updated Macros for easier use You can find the update tool now on GitHub:  https://github.com/antdroidx/NCAA-Football-PS3-to-PS2-Roster-Porting-Tool

College Football Coach v1.4 Release + Updates

Better late than never I guess.... I released the latest major update to College Football Coach: Career Edition at the beginning of November and it's seen a lot of positive feedback with some negatives. The biggest complaint is that previous Saves were now incompatible with the new version. This I apologize for, but it is a sacrifice I had to make for advancing the features of the game. The old saves were no longer formatted to work with the new features of the game. The other major drawback is that I set the Android compatibility to newer Android OS's only and only allowed it on phones with at least 2GB of RAM. This was mostly a decision to avoid headaches. MANY of my negative reviews, emails and support issues were related to users complaining that the game ran slow. Unfortunately, due to the amount of simulation data and the amount of teams in College Football, the game requires significant processing speed and RAM allotment to work well. Phones that are older and...

College Football Injuries & Realism

I'd like to spend a little bit of time today, very quickly, to go over a negative comment I keep seeing pop up in forums and on Play Store reviews. The topic is INJURIES and how realistic and how many there are. Many people now have given me negative reviews or feedback saying there are way too many injuries and it's not fair. I've never seen more than 5 or so injuries on a team at any given time. In fact, at some point, you can't because the logic of the game doesnt allow you to have TOO many injuries, otherwise the game will run out of players and it'll crash. Let's just say there's 6 injuries on your team at once, which is a bit high from my experience simming thousands of seasons of this game. Is that unrealistic? People who think this is unrealistic may not really pay attention to actual football rosters. Let's look at today. Here's Alabama's injury report: They have 4 players listed out for the season, another guy with a long...

College Football Coach Roadmap

I took several months off from working on this game and I've started to come back to it with some minor UI changes and I think I'll continue to update some small things but also attack some more larger items in the near future. No timelines though, as this isn't a full-time job and just something I am doing on the side in my spare time. I also am not an experience programmer/developer and have been learning on the go with this project. But -- some items I'd like to do in the future: Re-structure of Data I am hoping to learn to how to sqLite or another database to use for storing data instead of text files for easier saving and modifying of data in the future.  Coordinator Positions I plan to add in Offensive and Defensive coordinator roles. These CPU controlled coordinators would be responsible for their side of the ball and can affect in-game and player growth. User Interface Changes I am hoping to add in some more modern Android navigation to the game...

College Football Coach: Career Edition Update Roundup

There have been a myriad of new features and updates to College Football Coach: Career Edition on Android that I've put out over the past month and haven't blogged about. Just to recap the updates, here is a list and description of some of the major ones: Show Potential Option By high demand, the Potential option is back in the game. As a reminder, the potential in this version is not going to tell you the actual Potential rating, because I feel like that makes the game dumbed down a bit. What it will show you is a predicted overall score based on varying factors. This score is what the game, at the time, predicts the PEAK level that player can achieve is, which is based on full playing time, meeting some goals, and the coach/team ability/ratings. It's more than likely that no player will reach this potential, but some may eclipse it. Even & Odd Team Count Conference Structure This is an important update. It allows full customization for league structure now since the p...

College Football Coach: Career Edition - Expanded College Football Playoffs and More

This weekend will see another set of new features for the Android edition of College Football Coach: Career Edition, which is available on the Google Play Store for free! I've been working on some popular new features that have been requested for months. Firstly, I have several bug fixes that should help stabilize the game, as well as a lot of additional code optimization to help with memory and game speed. Now, I have been working on the Expanded College Football Playoffs. This new mode will completely replace the Bowl Games and will take 16 teams to a playoff system after the Conference Championships. It's very important that you win the Conf Title, as it'll guarantee admission to the 16-team playoff. The other 6 at-large bids will be taken with the next 6 best seeded teams that did not win their conference title, so more than likely, these will go to the Power Conference teams. With this new change, I've also made a small tweak to the Calendar. There is now 25 full w...

NCAA Football for Playstation 2 & PSP: Rosters and Dynasty Mod v3 Released

I have released the latest and possibly final version of the 2018-19 Rosters and Dynasty Mod for NCAA Football on Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable. The update has every team updated using the data from the Operation Sports community. Special thanks for Pinbw, Vikesfan and his PS3 editing team, and the Xbox 360 editing team. Without them, this roster could not have been ported and created! To download and more info, please go to the following link: https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-rosters/940041-ncaa-football-ps2-psp-2018-19-rosters-mods-project.html

College Football Coach: Game Editing Features Added

The latest version, published last night, has a couple tools built-in to it. There will be a series of planned upgrades over the next week (hopefully) to have some built-in tools for customizing the game universe as easy as possible. Hopefully this will help address some of the challenges of importing data. The Universe file to start a custom league now supports CSV formatting. This is "comma-separated-values". For now, the file name must still end in TXT for the game to recognize it but the formatting as CSV should make things easier to edit in Excel or a CSV editor. The previous method had spaces after each comma, making it a little bit of a pain since each space caused errors. The Roster and Coach files already were in this csv format. The game now has some built-in repair tools to help correct any detected errors in player, team and coach data. This will help auto-resolve some issues with importing data. It may not catch all though - its really meant to just catch issues ...

College Football Coach: Career Edition v1.2.30 Released to Play Store

Description and List of Changes: New Start Game Menu New Game Step-by-Step Options This is to simplify the process of starting a universe. For "NEW GAME" you will be guided to pick a Prestige choice - i.e. default (realistic), randomize, or equalize. The Equalize is new. This sets every team to the same prestige and then let the game dictate how teams succeed and fail without any pre-game bias. After choosing a starting option, you will be presented with more universe options including if you want to be able to be fired (career mode) or not (dynasty mode), enable in-game conf realignment, go crazy and make the whole universe a soccer-like promotion/relegation tier system, and enable/disable television contracts After that, you will be asked to pick a team, then your username, and then the game starts. This was done because I feel like the Settings menu is like a secret or something. People don't realize it's there. Also the universal pro/rel system is hidden the major...
